My name is Anna and I am the CEO and operator of Eat This! My partner in crime is my husband Randy. He is the brains of the operation. As many other people, we were working stiffs. We struggled to make ends meet with our J.O.B.'s and wanted a way to feel a bit more independent. Randy had a background in sales and I have always worked in customer service or graphic art. In 2011 we found ourselves at a crossroads. Randy had become disabled and was no longer able to work a "Real JOB". We started looking into a variety of self employment opportunities, several of which were standard multi-level marketing type businesses. We quickly discovered that type of business model, although often very lucrative, was not for us.
We found an ad in a magazine for the equipment to make Italian Ice. We didn't know what it was but we were intrigued. When Randy felt good enough, he would research Italian Ice. Where it originated (Italy ;}), where it gained it's popularity in the US, how was it made, what is it made of, and can we make it ourselves. We found out that it was so different than any other sweet treat that we had come across in our area. Turns out, that is it hugely popular on the East coast and is called Italian Water Ice there. Not very many people know what it is here on the West coast.
Most of the supplies we found had High Fructose Corn Syrup in them and we wanted to stay as far away from that as much as possible. So we kept at it. We use the most natural ingredients as possible, often creating our own concentrates and using traditional recipes. Our production machines are imported specifically for making the best quality Italian Ice.
